Does SARDELAC SANITARIUM matter
Don't know if this is the right place for this, but as it is the games suggestion forum it seems to fit.
I was wondering if there was anything out there that actually listed ideas that originated from this forum that have actually been implemented in the game? Just wondering how much input from players actually make it to the game.
Please, post links to any info that you're aware of... thanks.
Apologies if this info is located elsewhere in the forum.

Gaile Grey has posted a messages on GWG but I havn't really noticed much change.
Maybay they are all concentrated on the GW2 suggestion forum.

Should probably go in Riverside, as it is a discussion and not an idea.
To answer the OP:
At this point in time it seems that ANET is concentrating on GW2, so don't expect any big ideas to be implemented. Numerous past suggestions have been added to the game, perhaps not as specifically suggested, but with changes.

Anet has been known to implement player based ideas, but whether they originated on this particular forum or originated elsewhere and simply ended up being discussed here is another matter entirely.

This is true regarding where the idea originated, but go over to GWO and you will, basically, see the same suggestions. I imagine most of the other fansites are the same.

Good ideas are a matter of personal opinion. I've seen things implemented that I personally thought were good, and others that I thought were not so good.

Yes.
Threads like this pop up all the time. I have to repeat myself in all of them
Some stuff suggested on these very forums:
Reopening the Catacombs of Presear in Postsearing (we got the depths of Tyria)
A bard class (paragon)
"Non-Combat" Armor (sunglasses, bandanas, etc)
Insignias for armor (not originally called that, was called Phantam Armor or something, but basically "statless armor you could change all the time")
Certain specific buffs and nerfs have been taken word for word.
The skill "Can't Touch Me" is identical to an existing suggestion which complained about touch rangers.
I could really go on for days. The thing is, 99% of the ideas in this forum are crap, and some of them are contradictory (ie, you can't "remove grind from the game" while at the same time "add more level 20 character development"). We shouldn't want a.net to listen to everything on these forums. If they did, everybody would start the game with full unlocks and 250+ ectos.

They did. Most of the changes that were made since start came from here. It's just that people refuse to give credit where it's due. And another problem is that 99% of ideas here are irrelevant and don't apply to GW at all. The 1% that went into game was clearly defined and well known by the time GW went live.
At the same time, this forum no longer matters. GW is what it is, won't get any relevant feature additions.
Yes, majority of ideas presented are stupid.

If these pop up all the time, then maybe it would be a good idea to have a sticky thread that points to other threads that have actually resulted in updates to the game. It would be nice to see examples of the types of threads that generate positive/constructive discussions and get the attention of the developers.

If this is the case then why does the place still exist. If the developers are no longer looking for input on updates the why not close this section down? I would think that if enough users decide that something is relevant and state their case here it would behoove the developers to at least make an attempt to implement it or at least explain to us why something a large group of users are requesting just won't work....

Think they got the Party Animal Title from these forums as it was suggested.

They have explained to us why something won't work in GW. They have no development time to work on large content updates for GW1, since they're working on GW2. And I'd rather them keep devoting almost all their time to GW2, rather than delay release or release an incomplete game.

I've noticed some bugs that get posted here get fixed on occasion but not always, and not really much else.

Excellent, could you point me to some examples of these explanations?
Also, are you a developer or some sort of project manager for Anet? I've seen many posts where someone claims to know that the developers don't have the time to deal with this or that. How do all the people on these forums know these things?
I do agree that they can't spend all their time on GW in preparation for GW2, but how many years out is GW2? Have they even started beta yet? I don't see why suggestions can't still be looked at, and let the developers decide if it's too much effort, or would detract from GW2. I could see them not wanting to put out any more large content updates, especially after just releasing EotN not too long ago, but they should still support a game that people are still buying. And, if there are requests that wouldn't take much effort, don't mess up game play, and would add an element of fun it should be seriously considered.... after all, they want us all to buy GW2, so they should keep us happy with GW.

Because "they" don't have that power. This is not an official forum run by the developers. This is a fan forum.

The other problem of course is that when the devs have tried to explain WHY something isn't as simple as the players seem to think it is - they get flamed by posters who apparently know the programming of the game better than those who actually programmed it.
It's a sad state of affairs really. Some on this (and other forums) conjecture a myriad of problems that may be inherent in certain ideas, but often get "shouted down" by others who absolutely must know better - often in a language which clearly indicates they do not.
Welcome to the internet where anyone can be anyone and everyone can be an expert.

Yes, and when I went to guild wars website to see about providing suggestions for updates to the game, this is where they point us... the fan sites. Are they just jerking our chains then, or could you point me to somewhere the developers actually look, something official? Maybe I missed something on the main site....

Hehehe, if I was a developer I'd inform people of programming decisions in a manner in which they had no chance to respond.... more of a this is why, and that is that kind of approach.... Maybe a forum just for those that are involved in software development in some way shape or form could be created....
Any way, I must say that I appreciate your post's Lady Lozza, objective and constructive from what I've seen.
